North Tyneside To Host Biking Legends Nights

Click Here To View or Download a Poster A North Tyneside music and specialist motorcycle venue will be the scene for a series of ‘Biking Legends’ nights.

The Trojan Rooms on South Parade in Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear. NE26 2RG will host the one-off evenings with the first event taking place on Friday 4 February.

Launching the series will be Niall Mackenzie - Britain’s most successful 500GP motorcycle racer since Barry Sheene and is the only man to have won three successive British Superbike Championships (1996-1998).

Niall will tell the story behind his wild younger days, his time as a works 500cc racer and may reveal the true face of some other race legends. The evening should provide a fascinating look at the Grand Prix and British Superbike scenes through the eyes of one of the most popular riders of recent years.

Ex-racer and Sky British Superbikes commentator Larry Carter will compere proceedings and will introduce some local home grown racing talent.

People will get the chance to mingle with their idols and watch footage of legends in action. There will also be a display of iconic new and classic motorcycles to enjoy.

Tickets cost £10 and can be booked by visiting www.thetrojanrooms.co.uk or by calling 0191 251 0080.

Michael Farwell, owner of the Trojan Rooms, said: “This sort of event doesn’t happen often enough in this area. We want to give the North East biking fraternity the opportunity to get up close and personal with some real legends, and there aren’t many better than Niall Mackenzie to kick off the series.”

The Trojan Rooms is part of the award-winning, family-run hotel, The Avalon, and is situated right in the centre of Whitley Bay. The bar is well known for its live music, events, food and drink.
